The artist brings to her studio 9 of the rare & environmentally protected wild forest plant “Eenbes”. The 10 of them explore subjects like plant’s mode of existence & communication and areas of overlap with human feminine energy, vitality, menopause & death.

In and out of Connection #8, 2019. Handprinted in Black and White.

In and out of Connection is an ongoing text-based work of non-linear poems that occasionally brings visual elements into the realms of written language. Silkscreen, handwritten, sewn or using other manual printing techniques, the letters produce words whose meanings drift around the printed surface and the adjacent living consciousnesses.

A wall has two sides. On the side facing west, the site-specific installation “the living object”  bears exercises on form, living and meaning. On this side, facing east, the meaning and knowledge culminate and a new spirit is born in the body of a blue, purple and shimmery fish. With the curiosity of a newborn, the spirit whose scope of knowledge all comes from the other side, floats, swims and explores its new surroundings. It attracts an older spirit of that side, with the temporary name of Rupprecht Geiger. Geiger, whose life-long practice was exploring the making and the breaking of the color red, is mutually attracted to the fish, who seems to manifest in practice, all of Geiger’s research and thoughts on color.  The two spirits become close friends. They play in color dust to learn about time, change and language.

 “Willst du dich färben?” fragt Geiger. “Nein.”, sagte der Fisch. “Ich will mich fäben, und ganz im roten Teich auflösen”.

A tachograph chart is produced by a device fitted to large vehicles like buses and trucks whose driving is closely regulated and monitored by authorities to measure speed, driving and pausing  patterns. The sky as a directioning guide has evolved into global positioning systems (gps) and other route and mapping technologies, yet ancestor travellers, when examining stars for their journeys, read more in them than just the coordinates. 

The set of tachograph posters expand the details and dimensions that go on record, as they include layers of the vehicle’s interaction with its surroundings, be it its coordinates’ measurements, the soundscapes, temperatures, textures and all the inner and outer locations that these factors take the driver’s mind or soul to.

Sky constellations are imaginary figurative drawings, created by astronomers, artists and poets to give familiar shapes to the overwhelming network of celestial bodies. In the posters, they give familiar shapes to the linguistically, emotionally and intellectually overwhelming web of one spirit’s mind and matter.

The posters are a personal record of a truck driver’s unique journey. Packed inside a folder, on a shelf that is larger and darker than the surrounding shelves, they are approached with intimacy, as one must take them out of the folder and create a personal order and arrangement to navigate them.
